AREA
Located on Tulane University campus, the Woldenberg Art Center’s West Wing and East Wing were formerly the Newcomb Swimming Pool and Newcomb Art School, respectively. Williams Architects was hired to renovate the five-story art school building, which now houses classrooms, several art studios, a large gallery for student and faculty exhibitions and the Pace-Willson Glass Studio.
In addition, Williams Architects converted a three-story gymnasium into an auditorium and art history building. The renovated buildings were joined together with the construction of an art gallery which features Tiffany-stained glass windows from the original Newcomb campus on display for the first time since the beginning of the century.
