AREA
The Maison Blanche Bargain Store and warehouse was at one time part of the booming Canal Street department store culture. What emerged a century ago has had an encore. Williams Architects converted this historic structure into 87 luxury apartment units with two floors of parking. In order to provide natural light to all of the apartments, we added a large, private courtyard as a creative design element to add appeal for tenants and value for the owner. In addition to the adaptive reuse of the building, we added a 38,000sf penthouse and 13 apartments to the existing roof of the building. Described as French Quarter Luxe, no two residences are alike. Constructed in 1920, Art Deco ornamentation on the building’s façade reveal its place in history representative of other New Orleans Neo Classic and Beaux-Arts style buildings throughout the city. Williams Architects again provided seamless access and resolution to permits and tax credit options for this project. For further information on this project please email [email protected].
