AREA
Nestled in the Treme neighborhood just outside the French Quarter, this four-story building underwent a comprehensive renovation that included a new entry, fourth floor meeting space and adjoining landscaped parking. The structure was transformed from a blighted and vacant property into a cultural center and gateway to the historic “Basin Street Corridor”.
Williams Architects balanced the renovation of the historic railway building with sensitive new construction to create an appropriately scaled space worthy of its prominence in history.
Our renowned expertise also afforded us the ability to establish the property as historic despite it being outside of an established historic district, and to assist our client with maneuvering through the complex process of obtaining State and Federal Historic Tax Credits to finance the project.
