Williams Architects, in collaboration with Hanbury, designed a dynamic residential college as part of the plan for Tulane University. The LEED Gold certified building, one of the few in the city at the time, was designed to function as an entry to the greater Tulane campus. Varied massing based upon contextual relationships, a climate responsive courtyard and mixed housing for students and faculty are defining—and enduring—features of this project. The Weatherhead Residence Hall is Tulane’s UpperClassmen House and offers interaction with faculty both inside and outside of the classroom, providing students a collaborative, intellectual, and close-knit community. Employing our depth of experience, Williams led the specification, permitting, bidding and negotiation, and construction administration phases of the project in addition to design. The project received a Merit Award from the American Institute of Architects, New Orleans chapter as Best Architectural Design, and recognition from Student Housing Business magazine.
