AREA
Surrounded by mature oak trees, this American Classical Revival home on Bayou Lafourche in Thibodaux, LA, was built in 1937 for State Senator Harvey Peltier, Sr. We updated the building systems in the original structure and the wood-covered concrete floors. The original door hardware and plaster walls, ceilings, moldings and details were all restored with careful attention to the original craftsmanship. In addition, our design included a large custom kitchen and family room to bring the house up to date for its owners. The project was upgraded to include a grand circular entry drive and fountain, a pigeoneer, and a garage with a breezeway connecting the house to the addition we designed for them. The site is wrapped with custom brick walls and iron fencing.
The same level of design and detailed thought was given to furnishing the home. An artist was commissioned to create ceiling and wall murals, and custom embroidered silk draperies and furnishings were strategically used. These were supplemented with antique furnishings, rugs, chandeliers, mirrors and accessories that were collected locally and on the owner’s travels.
